According to latest IMARC survey, BCL ranks 7 in ENA Production in India and envisions itself to be number one player along with its associated post the setup of its Kharagpur unit under its subsidiary Svaksha Distillery Limited (200 KLPD AND 10 MW CO-GENERATION POWER PLANT), a Joint Partnership Project with Kolkata based Svarna Infrastructure.Out of 980 KLPD capacity of North India, the combined capacity of BCL and its associates itself is 325 KLPD or 33%. East & North-East despite being strong markets have the production capacity of only 96 KLPD.
With the growth of consumption by 24% over the period 2010-11 to 2015-2016 and an installed capacity of only 3% in the East & North-East region where the states in this region are heavily dependent on the other zones of India, it proves the business proposition and advantage of the new unit being located in West Bengal.
The Land and all related licenses including Environmental clearances, Industry conversions etc have already been acquired for the new Unit at Kharagpur, West Bengal and BCL is moving confidently to commence production in the financial year 2018-2019.
