1976-80
  • In 1976, BCL began its journey with a Solvent Extraction Plant, extracting oil from Rice Bran.
  • Commenced production of oil in 1977.
  • Started producing Rice Bran Hard Oil in 1980.
1981-85
  • Started a vegetable oil refinery in 1982.
  • Refined and packed Edible Oil such as mustard oil, soyabean oil and cotton seed oil in 15 kg and 1-litre pouch.
  • The brand name MURLI was established.
  • Installed Rice Mill in 1984.
  • Increased capacity of the solvent extraction plant from 40 MT PPD to 200 MT PPD.
1986-90
  • Installed and commissioned, Oil Crushing Unit in 1988.
  • In 1990, BCL began manufacturing Vanaspati by installing a 100 MT Vanaspati Plant.
1991-95
  • In 1993, BCL went for an IPO (Initial Public Offer) for 29 lacs shares of INR 10/- each at a premium of INR 5/-. The issue was over-subscribed by 4 times.
  • BCL initiated an expansion plan for doubling the capacity of its Edible Oil, Rice and Processing Unit in Bathinda.
1996-00
  • In 1997, we nearly doubled the total capacity across all product categories.
  • In 1996, we achieved a turnover of more than INR 1000 Mn.
2001-05
  • In 2005, BCL ventured into Real Estate and launched an integrated township – Ganpati Enclave.
  • In 2002-03, we achieved a turnover of INR 2,500 Mn.
  • In 2003-04, we achieved a turnover of INR 3,000 Mn.
2006-10
  • Installed a new Green Field, Grain-Based Distillery-Ethanol Industry Unit of 100-kilo litre/day unit, along with a 5.0 MW co-generation Power Plant at Dabwali Road, Bathinda.
  • Became the 1st Distillery in India to be a fully backward and forward integrated unit.
2011-15
  • In 2013-14 we achieved a turnover of Rs. 6,000 Mn.
  • BCL’s Distillery Industry Unit established a bottling plant in Bathinda and launched a range of IMFL-labeled brands in the whiskey and vodka categories.
  • Initiated the expansion plan of its Distillery Industry from 100 KLPD to 200 KLPD in Bathinda.
2016-19
  • Production commenced at the BCL Distillery - Ethanol Unit, Dabwali Road, Bathinda increasing its capacity from 100 KLPD to 200 KLPD
  • Converted 50% capacity of BCL Distillery at Bathinda into Ethanol, and started supply to the OMCs from December’18.
  • Achieved turnover of ₹ 9,037 Mn in 2018-19, the highest in four decades of the company’s history.
2020-21
  • In 2020 the company began an expansion of its Bathinda manufacturing unit from 200 KLPD to 400 KLPD.
  • BCL’s subsidiary ‘Svaksha Distillery Limited’ started the production of Ethanol and ENA from its 200 KLPD plant in Kharagpur, making it one of the largest grain-based companies producing these products.
2022-23
  • In 2022, BCL crossed Rs. 2000+ Crore turnover, making it among the top 1000 Companies based on market capitalization.
  • The Company’s captive power plant at the Distillery Industry, Bathinda, successfully eliminated the issue of stubble (paraali) burning, from the year 2022, in the villages surrounding the industry.
  • BCL Industries’ Bathinda Distillery expansion from 200 KLPD to 400 KLPD was completed in 2023. Of the total 400 KLPD, 200 KLPD is dedicated for ENA (Extra Neutral Alcohol) and another 200 KLPD for Ethanol manufacturing.
  • The Company has begun the expansion of its grain-based distillery at Kharagpur (West Bengal) manufacturing unit from 200 KLPD to 300 KLPD.
  • In 2023, BCL Industries achieved the status of ‘zero discharge unit’ and a ‘full backward and forward integrated unit’, for both its distillery units.
